Meet Maria Gatillon
Hi, I am Maria, the Interior Designer behind Shine Interior Design. I am a mother of two girls, a step-mom, a step-grandma, a wife, and a daughter born and raised in Lima, Peru. In 1999 I moved to the US to pursue my passion, studying Interior Design.
I earned my Interior Design degree from Marymount University in 2008. Throughout my journey, I have remained dedicated to creating bespoke interiors that perfectly enhance the lives of those who occupy them. In 2020, I reached a significant milestone in my career by achieving the prestigious NCIDQ certification, further solidifying my dedication to continuous growth and expertise in the field.
In my personal life, my family and I have encountered several health challenges. From my mom's double diagnosis of breast cancer; my younger daughter's aggressive congenital cholesteatoma, an abnormal growth of skin cells in the ear canal, and my own diagnosis of breast cancer at 39 years old, and most recently taking care of my older daughter's medical depression, I have come to understand how our home is the place where we come to rest and get better.

These experiences have influenced and expanded my vision for the role Interior Design plays in our lives, and how it shapes the houses we call home. It allows us to make them our sanctuary, our healing spaces, the places that see our children grow and where we make lifetime memories and celebrate every moment of our lives.
